Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  The Marco teachers and staff look forward to working together with all of our families to support the academic and social-emotional needs of our scholars.  Your cooperation and support of all school programs and activities are essential to the success of ALL students!

Schoolwide Vision:

To ensure achievement for all.

Schoolwide Mission:

Through collaboration we unite and lead all students to success.

This year, we are excited to offer students additional support and enrichment opportunities during the daily Tutorial period.  Tutorial is a 30 minute class period, during the school day, when students receive additional support, complete homework/classwork, read silently, participate in an enrichment class, or work quietly in the library; all based on their individual needs.  Every 2 weeks you will receive an email via School Loop with a new list of tutorial options. Students who need extra support, intervention, or content enrichment will be assigned to a CLOSED session.  If not assigned to a CLOSED session, students may select OPEN sessions which include both teacher support and interest-based options (i.e. ELA 6 Support, ELA 8 Homework Help, Spanish 1 Support, Chess Masters, School Electronic Newsletter, Fitness Room, and Yoga).  Other options for students, during tutorial, are:

Library – quiet space for completing assignments, reading silently, or using computers

Lunch Benches (designated by grade level) - area to complete homework, classwork, or cooperative group work.  The schedule of Tutorial offerings will be emailed and posted on School Loop weekly.  The list will include options for a 2 week period.  Students need to have their Reminder Binder (aka Planner or Agenda) with them each and every day as a part of the implementation of Tutorial.

In addition, we will continue to offer students assistance with homework before and after school.  Students must complete and submit an application to participate in Before and/or After School Homework Club.  After School Homework Club is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:25 pm.  Before School Homework Club is offered on Wednesdays, Thursday, and Fridays from 7:30 – 8:30 am.  Homework Club offers students an opportunity to receive help with their homework and incomplete assignments from teachers and staff.

As the proud principal of Marco Forster Middle School, I look forward to meeting and connecting with all of our families.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email pasawyer@capousd.org or by phone (949) 234-5907, if you have questions, concerns, or even KUDOS! Your input is appreciated!

Thank you for joining forces with us this year as we ensure “Achievement for ALL”!

Sincerely,

Pamela Sawyer
