Classroom Standards

Marco Forster Middle School has implemented a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for teaching students appropriate behaviors, by defining behavioral expectations in both classroom  and in non-classroom settings. The teachers at Marco Forster have high expectations of their students and wish them a successful and positive year.  In order to achieve this for their students, the teachers have created a set of universal classroom standards or expectations, which will be in effect in every classroom.

Each student is expected to:

Follow directions the first time they are given.

Be quiet and in assigned seat with proper materials, ready to work, when the bell rings.

Keep hands, feet and other objects to oneself.

Follow specific rules as posted in each teacher’s classroom and in each teacher’s syllabus.

Use the school-provided student planner in all academic classes.

Refrain from gum chewing and eating in the classroom.

If a student chooses not to follow the above expectations, the following may occur:

a.   Appropriate action by teacher                    d.     Parent Conference

b.   Parent contact, written or by phone           e.     Referral to the assistant principal

c.   Detention, after school or lunch                 f.       Individual Behavior contract
