As the Academic Advisors at Marco Forster Middle School our duties include the following: provide information regarding academic planning for high school and college, coordinate and administer standardize tests, schedule and orient all new students, register new students for classes for the following school year, attend and participate in various Parent/Teacher Conferences and Leadership meetings, coordinate and present orientations for students at elementary schools, plan and participate in Parent Orientations, assist with revision of curriculum guides and the development of the master schedule and implement in putting it in the computer yearly, ensure progress and grade reporting is completed and progress and report cards are prepared.  Also, we are involved in helping parents get set up in schoolloop as well as other various intervention programs such as Homework Club, Roadrunner Academy, After School Tutoring, Math Skills, and Summer School. We also, coordinate and implement various aspects of Student Recognition including Student of the Month, Honor Roll and our Eighth Grade Awards Program.

Guidance Secretary/Registrar

If you will be enrolling a student new to our district or are interested  in Open Enrollment for our school, I am your first contact here at MFMS.  I will verify that MFMS is your home school and explain our enrollment procedures.  I also maintain records on interdistrict transfers, and Open Enrollment applications.  In addition, I maintain our student cumulative records, update our student database, and provide secretarial assistance to the Guidance Department.

As the School Counselors we provide counseling to address student’s academic, personal/social and career development needs and promote student success in the school.  Students may request counseling services on a self-referral basis or parents may contact us if they are concerned about their sons or daughters.  Conversations between ourself and your child are confidential, unless the student discloses information that presents clear and imminent danger to the student or others.  A signed parent/guardian permission form is needed in order for short-term counseling to be provided.  Referrals to outside resources are available.  Academic Counseling focuses on: the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), STAR testing, decision making, goal setting, time management, study skills, organization and overall subject matter grade improvement.
